Venue and dates

The international conference Advances in Tourism Economics 2007 will be held on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th April 2007 at the Instituto Piaget in Vila Nova de Santo André. The opening session on Friday 13th will take place at the conference hotel (Hotel Vila Park), which is located right in front of the University Campus where all parallel sessions will then take place.

Delegate accreditation

Identity badges will be issued to all participants at the welcome desk upon arrival at the Hotel Vila Park. The welcome desk will be located in the hotel’s entrance hall, on the left-hand side of reception, and will be open from 15.00 to 20.30 on Thursday 12 April 2007. On 13 April 2007, accreditation will take place in the same place from 8.30 to 12.30. Late arrivals should contact the Conference Secretariat in the Campus entrance hall.

Please note that participants are responsible for their own reservations and all individual payments, such as conference fee, room fare and all incidental expenses. Arrival in Lisbon and transportation to the hotel Vila Park in Vila Nova de Santo André

To fly to Lisbon you can benefit from special conditions provided to ATE2007 participants by our official carrier - TAP Portugal. The discounts offered amount to 10% in economy class and 20% in business class. For this purpose TAP has provided us with the discount code IT7TPCG14 – please do not forget to mention this code when booking your flight in order to make use of the discount.

When booking on-line, participants should do as follows:

enter the website www.flytap.com and select the dates and destination
proceed with a normal booking according to the on-line instructions
insert the conference code in the Congress Code Box
proceed to end your booking according to instructions

Transfer Service

We will provide a bus transport service available to all participants aimed to facilitate transport arrangements from the Lisbon airport to the conference venue on Thursday, April 12.
The conference bus will be leaving the Lisbon airport by 16.00h on April 12 and will be located just outside the arrival’s lounge (next to the taxi station). On April 14 we will have a similar transfer just after the closing session, meant to bring our participants back to Lisbon.

For those participants who prefer to use an alternative way to get to Vila Nova de Santo André, we might suggest renting a car or simply get a regular bus. The travel time from Lisbon to Vila Nova de Santo André by bus is around 2 hours and a half (170 Km). Participants willing to take a regular bus should refer to the following link on bus schedule information.

To facilitate the travel arrangements and transfers, participants are requested to confirm their travel details a.s.a.p. by e-mail and/or by updating their on-line registration form. Changes to travel plans should be communicated to the Conference Secretariat well before the planned arrival date (contacts below).

Social events and partner programme

On the evening of 12 April 2007, the Organizing Committee is happy to host a reception and welcome drink to all participants and acompaning persons at the Hotel Vila Park. On the evening of 13 April 2007 the official conference dinner will be served at the Hotel main restaurant. The programme will end on 14 April 2007, after the conference closing session, with a sightseeing tour to some places of historical and cultural interest in the surrounding region. Please note that spouses are invited to participate in all social events.
The average temperature in Vila Nova de Santo André in April is approximately 20°C. We recommended light clothing during the day, but a warm coat might be of assistance by night.
